Mr Rob Cook. Research Director and Chief Technology Officer

Mr Rob Cook is the Research Director and Chief Technology Officer of DSTC Pty Ltd. Rob has extensive experience in the formation, financing, management and direction of technology-based software companies in the information and communications technology industry, both in Australia and overseas. He has applied his expertise to advising and assisting governments and universities.

Recently Mr Cook has been the founding Director for Commercialisation at Griffith University, building the Office for Commercialisation and promoting several venture-capital financed spin-offs.

He was a founder and the CEO of Astracon, Inc., a venture-funded Denver, Colorado telecommunications software company, which developed Connectivity Management software in Brisbane and partnered and licenced software to the largest companies in the worldwide industry. Prior to Astracon he was the founding Managing Director of CiTR Pty Ltd, a successful Australian company spun-out of the University of Queensland to develop telecommunications software for a number of international companies including Hewlett-Packard, NEC, Telstra and Unisys.

In 1986 Mr Cook was appointed to found the Centre for Information Technology Research at the University of Queensland, which was eventually spun-out as CiTR Pty Ltd.

He has a BA (Hons), an MA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science from Cambridge University in the UK. He is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society and has been a Board Advisor to the international TeleManagement Forum, the peak body in the communications network management industry.
