Brisbane's Pioneer Cemetery  | The North Brisbane Burial Ground was the principal cemetery for Brisbane town between 1843 and 1875, encompassing the first few decades of free settlement of the colony. The burial ground was divided into separate sections based on religious denomination, and by the time of its closure approximately 5000 burials had been made within its grounds.  | The cemetery lay neglected and overgrown from 1875 until 1913, when the land was reclaimed by the government to provide a park and sporting field for the nearby residents of Milton and Paddington.
