On Saturday morning last it was reported at Kingscote that the body of a man bad been washed up on the beach at Emu Bay, about a mile to the north of Mr J. Hall's residence.  |      Acting-coroner R. Indications pointed to suicide, four strands of fishing line being found tightly tied round the neck, and the loose end had a loop as if a stone had been attached.        Messrs H. F. Bates (a brother) and H. E. Whittle identified the body as that of Ephriam Stean Bates, of Emu Bay. Owing to the advanced stage of decomposition the remains were buried close to where found.
