Age of Dinosaurs is much closer to Winton and only short dirt/
War memorial
Pelican waterholes - 1 mile west of Winton is site of original settlement
Short film festival
Huge variation in budgets. One was essentially a home video of the kids club being run during the festival, another was a stop action video of plasticine dinosaurs done by some of the kids in above. Half a dozen were final year film/media student projects (Griffith) which I think were being made and assessed as part of the festival. Raising to high budget ones, one of which is pilot for a hollywood movie.

Cooper creek near Windorah, grass very green in floodway
Road is emergency airstrip
Crosses kyabra creek
Dry sandy lakes
We are in Quilpie tonight. It has obviously been raining here as there was water in the roads and some of the small creeks have water sitting in them.
Near Windorah, the pasture areas are positively lush green, but get out of the channels of the rivers and it is sparse again. I guess that is channel country for you.

Saturday, 13 July 2019 Overnight Goondiwindi
via Mundundi (283km, 3h 3m)?
From St George head south, have a look at Nindigully Pub - iconic;
Thallon silo murals;
Mungindi One Ton post (turn off before Mungindi).
Road Mungindi to Boomi is still half dirt (about 50km), Boomi to Goondiwindi is bitumen;
Route 85 through Weengallon to Goondiwindi is all bitumen.
Thallon cemetery dates from about 1998.
South out of town is a sign to refuse tip and old Thallon cemetery, but we didn’t find it. Another researcher found it in the past saying it had fallen into disrepair many years ago and only rubble remained, no headstones. Given this place has been around since 1908/1911 (check when), and had and has a railway, where were people buried up to 1998?
